The Engagement

Domain Home, founded in 1985 by CEO Judy George and ranked No. 93 on Furniture Today's Top 100 with estimated sales of $66.3 million, filed for bankruptcy protection on January 18, 2008. After a planned auction of assets was called off due to lack of qualified bids, Great American Group and Hudson Capital Partners jointly managed the liquidation. Hudson Capital's involvement was particularly notable: Hudson executives had previously become minority investors in Domain when the company was acquired from Aga Foodservice, making James Schaye's firm both an investor and the liquidating agent. Jim Schaye described the engagement: "The bid got a little rich, and the terms changed, and it was decided they wanted to share the risk a little bit. So we agreed to join up with them." All 29 Domain locations closed following the liquidation.

This engagement was led by Eaton Hudson founder James Schaye through Hudson Capital Partners, the predecessor firm whose institutional track record is now represented under the Eaton Hudson banner.
